Friday Giveaway

This Friday (3/13/2009) we'll be giving one lucky @jugaari Twitter follower a free copy of Jaadu Remote Desktop or Jaadu VNC.

Here is how it works:

1) You must be following @jugaari before 11:59pm PST Friday.
2) You must tweet this message: Just entered the Jaadu iPhone app giveaway. You can win by following @jugaari and retweet. http://tinyurl.com/b5kkkm.
3) (Updated - 3/8) You must have a US iTunes AppStore account (sorry international folks - its just the way the AppStore coupons work).

Thats it! Saturday morning we pick a random follower and contact them. The winner gets a free copy of a Jugaari product of their choice (VNC or Remote Desktop).

Very simple. Loads and loads of fun.

Update (3/7): We have our first winner: @osigge! Congratulations!

Jaadu RDP v2.0 (Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger)

Jaadu RDP 2.0 should be available at the App Store soon! It's a free update for existing users. We're calling this release the Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger release. Here is why:

New features
  • 128 bit encryption support: As promised, here it is! (Harder, Stronger)
  • Faster screen updates on 3G and Edge connections: You should notice snappier screen updates on Edge and 3G connections. Developer note: We've also improved the WiFi scenarios by tweaking the code so that it is faster when blasting pixels to the iPhone/iPod screen. (Better, Faster)
  • Full screen zoom out: Zoom out until the entire desktop is visible. Very useful when you've lost a window.
  • New TouchSreen mode option: In TouchScreen mode tapping on the screen moves the mouse pointer to the tap area and executes a mouse click. This is different from the original Touchpad interface where the mouse pointer was moved by dragging it across the screen. This is OFF by default. It's great for applications that are already TouchScreen friendly.
  • Rotation lock persistence: If landscape mode is locked for a server then the screen will automatically rotate to landscape mode on connection.
  • Native support for SSH tunneling. Only recommend for advanced users. If you don't know what SSH is then you don't need to worry about this :-)
Bug fixes:
  • Console session option was not being saved properly.
  • Keyboard fixes: keyboard losing keys when typing quickly and keyboard input was not working properly in some applications.
  • Better internet connection warmup.
  • Fix two finger vertical scroll sensitivity - we've lowered the sensitivity. Some users reported that it was too sensitive while scrolling, making it hard to control.
  • Menu highlighting fixes

Existing users should look for the update notification in iTunes over the next few days. We're waiting for Apple to approve the update and publish it on the store (should be any day now).

We listen to your feedback (fact: TouchScreen mode and rotation locking were user requests). Let us know if you have a bug to report or just general feedback about Jaadu RDP: support [at] jaadurdp.com .

We've started work on the 2.1 release now (our work is never over...). Follow us on Twitter for updates on the 2.1 release as it takes shape in the coming weeks.

Jaadu RDP 1.1 just released

Jaadu RDP version 1.1 was just posted to the app store! It took Apple almost a week to approve the new version. New in this version:
  • Support for Windows Server products: Windows 2000 Server, Server 2003 and Server 2008.
  • Support for the console session
  • Full international keyboard support. This is not just an improvement over the previous release - its a full rewrite of the keyboard handler code. It now supports any international characters you can throw it.
  • Tweaks to audio streaming performance.
  • and a few other bug fixes, including some keyboard issues (people reported that the caps-lock key was not working properly - this is fixed now).
This was an important release for us. With think we now have a solid offering that appeals to regular users as well as full time, super-obsessive system administrators.

We've already started working on the next release (hint: focus on performance and more UI feature requests).
